Springfield Properties supports Scotland’s squash stars to World Team Championships
Scotland’s top squash players will test themselves against the best on the world stage, thanks to the support of Springfield Properties, one of the nation’s leading private and affordable housebuilders.
The country’s top male and female players will travel to Hong Kong to compete at the World Team Championships 2024 from December 9th to December 15th this year.
This year’s edition is the first in which the male and female teams will compete concurrently, meaning a bumper week of squash is in store.
Springfield Properties will be the main sponsor of the Scotland team heading to Hong Kong, following their support with the delivery and continued growth of the Springfield Scottish Squash Open, which most recently took place in Inverness last year.
That follows their generous backing of the two previous editions, with their support reviving the competition in 2019 following an 18 year absence.
At the World Teams Championship in New Zealand last year, Scotland’s men finished eighth – the same place achieved by the women in 2022’s edition in Cairo.
With the squads set to be announced later this week, both squads will be looking for similar success in December.
Springfield Chairman, Sandy Adam, said: “We have been supporting squash in Scotland, and those passionate about the game, for five years now and are proud to extend this support as we send our top players to compete for their country in the World Team Championships.”
Scottish Squash Interim CEO Garry McKay said: “Springfield Properties support of squash in Scotland continues to provide opportunities for Scotland’s top players to take advantage of high-level competitive opportunities.
“Their support of the team in Hong Kong will ensure that the players can fly the flag on the world stage, and allow the men’s and women’s teams to show that Scotland can compete with the best.
“Our relationship with Springfield Properties continues to go from strength to strength, and we are proud of our partnership with one of Scotland’s leading homebuilders.”
