SQUASH COACH AWARD

“I want to plan, lead and deliver coaching sessions to help players develop.”

The Squash Coach Award has been developed as a Scottish Coaching Certificate Level 6 course (equivalent to a Scottish Higher). This two-day course blended with online elements gives coaches the skills they need to deliver safe, well-planned and engaging sessions. It gives them to confidence to deploy Activators and begin top develop their Coaching Philosophy. This course allows candidates to develop the skills required to identify areas for development, and help develop a new generation of squash players – from grassroots players through to top club players.

About the course

  • Deliver a well organised safe, fun and inspiring squash coaching sessions
  • Carry out risk assessments to ensure safe squash for all
  • Develop your coaching philosophy
  • Self-reflection as a coach
  • Inclusive coaching
  • Player analysis and development
  • Aged 16 years or older
  • Face-to-face learning. This method of delivery will include:
    • 2 day course (12 hours approx. including lunch break)
    • Online modules through Brightspace
  • £320 per person

Fees must be paid in advance of the in-person day.

In order to support the running of the course, please note the following refund policy:

Cancel 30 days prior: Full refund

14-29 days prior: 75% refund

8-13 days prior: 50% refund

7 days or fewer prior: No refund given

sportscotland EDI subsidy funding is available for candidates from the following under-represented groups:

  • Women and Girls
  • Young people (Under 25)
  • Rural areas

The funding covers 80% of the Level 1 course, making it just £64 for eligible individuals!

The dates for a pilot Squash Coach Award course are below.

Participants must be available for both in-person days as follows:

Saturday 7th November – 10am to 5pm

Saturday 5th December – 10am to 3pm

Participants should aim to attend a 30-minute welcome call with the Scottish Squash Workforce Development Manager on Wednesday 7th October at 6pm and complete online modules prior to the first in-person day.
