Scottish number 1 Georgia Adderley had a fantastic 2024-25 season on the PSA Squash Tour, reaching a career high ranking of 22 in the world. We sat down with her to talk about the season, some stand out moments, and big goals for next season.

Having just finished her final event of the season, she reflected on a busy end to the 2024/25 calendar. “I’ve had a really busy May, the World Champs, Scottish Nationals, the Irish Open, finishing with the British Open down in Birmingham. They all went really well to be honest.”

The penultimate event was The Irish Open, one Adderley went out to win, making the final and losing to a strong Tesni Murphy in four games, “There was some good stuff to take away ahead of the British. I finished the season in Birmingham which was really nice, my parents came down to support which was lovely.” At the British Open she faced world number 5 Amina Orfi in the second round, she reflected that although she couldn’t quite snatch a game, she produced some of her best squash of the year, and was a great way to finish such a busy season.

The World Team Championships in Hong Kong was one standout moment for Georgia from the season, saying “I had a great time with the team, it was just a good fun week. Hong Kong is an amazing place as well.” On a personal level she had an incredible week in terms of her results, going undefeated, which included beating Amanda Sobhy 3-0.

Other highlights from her season included two big trips; a month in Asia and a month in Australia and New Zealand. “I got to see a lot of the world which I hadn’t seen before, which is something I don’t always get to do, which felt really nice and felt like a special time.” In the New Zealand Open she beat Nele Gilis 3-0 “I got one of the biggest wins of my career in New Zealand, unfortunately getting injured in the process of doing so, but it was still a positive experience for me.”

After a busy season, Adderley will be taking the month of June before starting preseason training. “It’s going to be a bit odd because I’m so used to filling my days with training and things like that, so just going to take a bit of time. Rest, recover, sleep a lot, spend some time with my family, my sister is getting married in the middle of June so that’s really exciting.” Some other activities to keep her occupied during her time off include walking her dogs, reading some books and doing some yoga classes.

Looking ahead to next season, she has two main goals; “I’d love to be top 16 in the world, and I’d also love to try and get a medal with the Scotland Women’s Team at Europeans next year. We were pretty close this year, and that’s kind of a goal I’ve had for a while from a team perspective.” She also spoke of aiming to win some more PSA events, but also focusing on some tactical and technical goals throughout the season.
