Executive Staff Team

Paul Macari 
As CEO of the organisation, Paul is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the SSL team, overseeing management and governance of the organisation as well as ensuring the delivery of the sports strategy “Together for Squash in Scotland”

Paul commenced his role at Scottish Squash in March 2025 having worked previously for another sports governing body and prior to that in a number of commercial roles within the sports, hospitality and leisure sectors.

He plays squash in the East of Scotland leagues for Watsonian SRC and regularly competes in Master competitions.

Garry McKay

Garry has worked for the organisation since 2017 as COO and provides strategic leadership across the organisation with key responsibilities of financial management & reporting, governance & compliance, HR, IT and child wellbeing & protection

Paul Bell

Paul has been in his current role at Scottish Squash since 2018 and is responsible for the Elite Performance Programme, coaching and mentoring our international players to be at their best.

Having worked previously at both England and Ireland squash, Paul has vast experience of the sport and helped guide our Men’s doubles team to a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Stuart Monteith

As workforce development Officer, Stuart supports Coach Education, Coach Development, Tutor Development, Referee Development and Volunteer Management.

Previously working in Education for Highland Council, Stuart also has a background in  journalism and supports the organisation with media and marketing.

Jack Brodie

Jack joined Scottish squash from Lothian Disability Sport and is an important addition to our Development team as we continue to push the boundaries for growing squash throughout Scotland by reaching brand new audiences.

His team are responsible for club development and growing participation throughout the country at both club and school level. Jack also sits on both the Scottish Squash EDI and Young Ambassadors working groups.

Kylie Lindsay

Kylie joined Scottish Squash in 2019 as a Development Manager having previously played squash professionally reaching a world ranking of 34.

Kylie moved into a coaching role in 2021 and as our Pathway Manager is responsible for the operational management of the pathway programme, pathway competitions and pathway coaching.

Kylie also manages the junior Scotland teams taking part in the home nations and European championships.

Phil Lyons

Phil joined Scottish Squash in 2022 initially as a competitions co-ordinator.

In his current role, he works across the organisation supporting the Performance and Pathway programmes, managing the tournament calendar, supporting clubs with organising tournaments and organising our national championships. Phil also organises the Masters Home International series and regularly puts his media hat on sharing updates on our social media platforms.

Phil’s squash career has been put on hold, but does he does plan to buy a racket this year.

Ewan McArthur

Ewan joined Scottish Squash in 2024 from Scottish Cycling where he had spent two years working as Club Development Coordinator.

His new role is responsible for continuing to improve and enhance the member experience and engages with our clubs to support them with membership services.

Ellie Jones

Ellie joined Scottish Squash in 2024 and works in a part-time role as a club development officer focussing on developing programmes and initiatives to grow women & girls participation across the sport.

Ellie is also a professional squash player and has represented Scotland at both the World Team and European Team championships.
