Preview: Scottish Junior Inter-Regional Championships 2025

Scotland’s rising squash talent will headline the action this weekend as the Scottish Junior Inter-Regional Championships return to Oriam, Scotland’s National Performance Centre, marking the first major event of the new season.

This year’s competition sees growth across the board, with 24 teams taking part, up from 20 in 2024. A total of 113 young players from around Scotland will compete across five age categories and 46 matches, making for a packed programme of squash as regions battle it out for national pride.

From Under 11s stepping onto court for one of their very first competitive outings, to Under 19s sharpening their game after international experience, the event is a key part of player development.

With the summer’s World Junior Championships now behind them, players such as Murdo Mackenzie and Archie Niven will be aiming for further domestic success with the West of Scotland squad. Elsewhere, Scotland’s Performance Pathway Programme will be well represented, with national champions Struan Lind (BU11), Sophie Ballentyne (GU11, GU13), Callum Smith (BU13), Thomas Myers (BU15), Ella Bannister (GU17) and Cailean McAlpine (BU17) among those taking part.

Follow all the action this weekend via the Scottish Squash Facebook and Instagram channels, and keep track of results via the official SportyHQ tournament page, where you can also find a full list of participants.
