Scottish Squash welcomes squash’s inclusion in Commonwealth Youth Games

Scottish Squash is delighted that squash has been included in the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games, set to take place in Malta.

The sport will feature for the first time since 2015, marking a significant moment for squash in the journey toward Olympic inclusion at the LA 2028.

Scottish Squash CEO Paul Macari said: “We are delighted to see that squash has been included in the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games.

“This provides another opportunity for Scotland’s top squash players to compete against the world’s best – a key step on the pathway for future stars and inspiration for young squash players across the country.

“It’s a further positive development for squash that will help elevate the profile of the sport ahead of its Olympic inclusion in 2028 and increase squash’s visibility within the Commonwealth sporting movement in the lead up to the 2030 Commonwealth Games.”

The Commonwealth Youth Games provides a competitive platform for athletes aged 14-18 from across the 74 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

Over 1000 athletes will compete in the games, which will take place across the islands of Malta and Gozo in late 2027.
