Scottish Squash Vacancies

The following vacancies are currently open for applications

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers aged 14+ to join the team supporting the biggest junior squash tournament in the country. With players travelling from across the world, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of an international sporting event, gain valuable experience, and contribute to creating a positive atmosphere for players, coaches, and spectators. 

The event runs from 28th to 30th December at Oriam and Grange in Edinburgh.

Key Responsibilities 

Depending on your interests and experience, you may be involved in some of the following areas (roles and responsibilities will be discussed with you prior to the event): 

Match Support 

  • Match Assistants – help ensure matches run on time by collecting/delivering balls, and keeping courts tidy between games. 
  • Referees – mark games at an appropriate age level 

Event & Venue Operations 

  • Registration / Accreditation Team – welcome players, coaches, and spectators, check in, 
  • Info Desk Support – provide schedules, directions, and general event information to visitors. 
  • Catering / Refreshment Support – help distribute food or drinks to players and officials. 
  • Results Runners– deliver score sheets to the desk or input results into tournament software 
  • Venue Set-Up & Take Down – help prepare courts, signage, banners before and after the event. 

Media, Marketing & Communications 

  • Social Media / Content Creators – capture photos, short videos, and interviews for daily updates. 
  • Live Stream Support – manage live scoring 

Person Specification 

Essential  Desirable 
Friendly, welcoming, and approachable manner  Interest in sport or events management 
Reliable and punctual  Experience volunteering or supporting events 
Willingness to learn and work as part of a team  Knowledge of squash 
Good communication skills  Social media or photography skills 
Able to follow instructions from event staff  Multilingual or comfortable helping international visitors 
Positive attitude and enthusiasm   

Training and Support 

  • All volunteers will receive a briefing and orientation before the event. 
  • Volunteers will be supported throughout by experienced staff and mentors. 
  • Certificates of participation and references can be provided after the event. 

 Commitment 

  • Shifts will typically last 3–5 hours, with flexibility throughout. 
  • Volunteers may choose to help for one day or more in agreement with Scottish Squash staff. 
  • Meals and refreshments will be provided during shifts.
