Scottish Squash launches awards programme to recognise young volunteers
Scottish Squash is delighted to announce the launch of the Young Squash Champions Volunteering Award.
The volunteer recognition scheme will allow young people aged 12-25 to track their volunteering hours and work towards a range of exciting rewards.
With the first milestone level at just 10 hours, Bronze status is an achievable goal for anyone contributing at their club or helping grow squash in their community.
For those who go above and beyond, the Hall of Fame level recognises 500 hours of volunteering – a huge commitment to the sport.
After consultation with young volunteers, it is clear just how many different roles they play in supporting and developing squash.
Whether assisting or leading coaching sessions, organising competitions, refereeing matches in leagues and tournaments or driving club growth – their contribution is invaluable to the continued growth of the sport.
Full details of rewards on offer can be found here, but include certificates, entry into prize draws for exclusive prizes, tickets for Scottish Squash events and the chance to train like a professional squash player for a day!
The award can be used to complement existing volunteer schemes for young people, such as The Saltire Award and Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Scottish Squash CEO Paul Macari said: “Volunteers play a big role in squash, offering amazing opportunities to existing players as well as those that want to try the sport for the first time.
“As we look to safeguard the future of the sport, the Young Squash Champions Volunteering Award provides a way to foster a culture of volunteering with Scotland’s young squash players.
“We look forward to recognising and celebrating the contribution of all of the amazing young volunteers as they progress through the award levels.”
