PVG’s

The Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is managed by Disclosure Scotland. It helps ensure people who are unsuitable to work with children and protected adults cannot do regulated roles with these groups.

Who Needs a PVG

Anyone who is in a regulated role needs to be a PVG scheme member. To see our list of regulated roles click here. If you are still unsure if you are in a regulated role, you can use the Disclosure Scotland PVG checker tool.

As of the 1st of April 2025 it is a criminal offence for anyone to start or be in a regulated role without a PVG. It is the responsibility of the club and the individual to ensure they comply with this legislation. Clubs must ensure that no individual starts a regulated role without having their PVG confirmed by Scottish Squash.

If they are PVG member through another organisation, e.g. work, another sport, then they will require to complete PVG Scheme Record Update application with Squash.

How to apply for a PVG with Scottish Squash

Before you can apply for a PVG the club must have completed and returned the Club PVG Processing Contract and the ID Checker Contract. If you are not sure if you have completed these please contact info@scottishsquash.org.

To apply for a PVG with Scottish Squash two forms must be completed:

Once we have received both forms, we can submit the PVG application to Disclosure Scotland.

Once submitted by us, the individual will receive an email from Disclosure Scotland with some instructions. The individual then submits the PVG application following the instructions in the email.

The results of the PVG are then sent to the individual and they must share the results with Scottish Squash before they can start their regulated role. There will be instructions in the email with the PVG result on how to do this. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to receive the PVG result.
