This workshop, which lasts up to two and a half hours (including break) is suitable for new and experienced players alike, as well as parents and coaches looking to deepen their understanding of the rules.
Held at your club, with a group of members, the course is fun, engaging and social!
What is covered?
- The basic squash rules
- Consistent terminology
- Code of conduct
- Lets, no lets and strokes
- Video decisions
and much more!
Trial session feedback
As part of the tutor training process, we ran three trial sessions at venues across Scotland, and the feedback from the participants was strong:
- 100% felt more confident about refereeing squash matches after completing the workshop
- 100% enjoyed the Calling the Shots trial workshop
- 100% would encourage their own club to run a Calling the Shots workshop
As one participant said: “This was a very useful session, and I will feel much more confident refereeing my next match and beyond.”
About the workshop
The course runs for up to two and a half hours and is delivered by a trained Scottish Squash tutor. The session is aimed at adult players of all ages and abilities (recommended 16+).
The workshop is social, practical, collaborative and fun.
In order to host a workshop, clubs should have a large screen (with HDMI capability) for sharing slides and example videos.
The cost of the course is £150 for Squash in Scotland member clubs (approximately £10 per person for 15 participants), and provides a quick solution to boost players’ officiating knowledge and confidence.
