Annual Awards celebrate amazing achievement in Scotland’s squash community

Scotland’s squash community gathered for a celebration of excellence in Glasgow on Saturday night.

With eight awards presented on the night, there was well-deserved recognition for individuals, players and clubs.

The ceremony took place at the historic Royal College of Doctors and Surgeons – where history was made, with two awards presented for the first time.

Adriana Aida was recognised as Referee of the Year sponsored by iPROSPORTS after a season of remarkable progress in her refereeing journey, which saw her referee the women’s final at this year’s Senior National Championship, as well as at the European level for the first time.

Joe Ewen won Coach of the Year sponsored by OLIVER UK, with his nominations recognising the transformative impact that he has had on squash across the Grampian region, increasing participation at clubs and schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

There was more success to come for Grampian, with Aberdeen Squash and Racketball Club named Club of the Year sponsored by FN Teamwear after a spell of record membership growth, expanded coaching programmes and refurbished facilities transforming the club into a hub of excellence.

Female players took home the Senior, Junior and Masters Player of the Year, with three outstanding individuals recognised.

Sophie Ballentyne was named Junior Player of the Year sponsored by Jim Hay, following a brilliant season winning the Scottish U11 and U13 titles, as well as the British U11 Championship.

Pauline Douglas was named Masters Player of the Year sponsored by DYNAMIK, following an unbelievable season in which she added World and British titles to her substantial honours list.

Georgia Adderley rounded off the player awards, being named Senior Player of the Year sponsored by GroupH after reaching a career-high world ranking of 22 and showing strong leadership both during training and at team events while representing Scotland.

The inaugural winner of the Volunteer of the Year Award was Katy Temple, who has breathed new life into Bridge of Allan Squash Club through the creation of mentoring schemes, women and girls events, junior box leagues as well as physical improvements to the squash corridors.

The Orkney Island Games Squash Team was the inaugural winner of Team of the Year sponsored by Dunlop following their historic success at the Island Games 2025, held in Orkney.

Their five-medal haul, including their first ever squash gold helped elevate the profile of squash on the island, inspiring a new generation to pick up a racket and get on court.

Congratulations to all the shortlisted clubs, teams and individuals, and well done to all of the winners for their achievements.

Thank you to the sponsors whose generous support helped to make the ceremony possible.
