Selection Criteria for Mens
Scottish National Teams for Masters Home Internationals (Season
2007-08)
Top 4 ranked eligible players in each Age Group after the Nationals will be automatically selected for Scottish teams. These selections should be announced at the presentation of trophies at the Nationals in Aberdeen.
Rankings will be based on points gained at Masters Tournaments by the attached System.
The 4 automatic choices will make the selection of the team captain, but the highest ranked eligible player in each Age Group should chair this group of 4 and be responsible for an early decision. The team captain could be a non-playing captain, the highest ranked player, or any other team member.
The 4 automatic choices, along with the team captain if he is not one of the 4, will select the other 2 team members having regard to current ranking and other factors such as injury, domestic circumstances, working abroad, or recent movement into older age category. These 2 players will not necessarily be number 5 and 6 in the team but will play in team order as decided by the team captain.
Aims:
• to encourage participation in Masters tournaments;
• to provide updated ranking lists and aid tournament organisers to seed players; and
• to provide automatic selection for players for Home International teams.
Points will be gained at Masters Open tournaments in Scotland, the Scottish Nationals and the British Closed and Open by the following scheme:
