SCOTTISH SQUASH NATIONAL LEAGUE RULES - SEASON 2006/07

Eligibility (Clubs, Teams and Players)

1. Clubs with teams participating in the National Squash League (NSL) must have a current affiliation to Scottish Squash and have adequate facilities available to compete.

2. Teams will be composed of five players, one of whom must be a female.

3. All players must be members of the club they represent.

4. Players must compete in a minimum of four league fixtures throughout the season in order to be eligible to compete in playoffs. No extenuating circumstances will be taken into account if players are unable to meet this obligation.

5. Players named by a club receiving a walkover will be deemed to have played in the fixture for purposes of playoff eligibility.

6. An entry fee will be charged for each team playing in the National Squash League. The rate will be fixed annually by Scottish Squash.

7. Any club who fail to pay their entry fee by October 31 will be immediately expelled from the NSL and all its results up to that date will be considered void.

8. Having represented one club, a player will not be eligible to play for another club in the NSL in the same season.

9. Matches between teams will consist of five ties, each the best of five games, and will be played on a home and away basis throughout the season.

10. The home club must have at least TWO courts available for play from the scheduled starting time of any match for as long as it may be required.

11. Matches will be played on the dates set out in the fixture list unless both team’s officials and Scottish Squash agree to the contrary. Mid-week matches will commence at 7pm. Weekend matches will be played at a time agreed by both team’s officials. In all cases a match must be played during the course of one day and at the named venue.

12. Teams must be selected in order of ability, not gender. Team lists must be exchanged between the two captains before the match starts.

13. The order of play must be 5,4,1,3,2 unless agreed otherwise by both team captains before the match starts.

14. Any team not having at least three players present and ready to play at the scheduled start of a match will be scratched and 20 points will be awarded to the opposition. If a player fails to appear within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time of the match he/she will be deemed to have played at number 5 and lost. Players playing below the absent string, who have already started their ties and are therefore unable to move up the order, will forfeit any points gained and full points from these ties will be awarded to the opposition.

15. Every tie in the National Squash League MUST be marked.

16. Ties will be played according to “The Rules of the Singles Game of Squash”, please refer to WSF website at www.worldsquash.org

3. If postponement is granted, the club postponing the match must immediately inform the other club contact and thereafter offer at least two alternative dates.
4. The club must notify Scottish Squash of the new, agreed date within 7 days of the original match, otherwise it may be deemed to have failed to fulfill a fixture.
