STATEMENT ONE
Eye Protection must be worn over the eyes by ALL squash players
who satisfy the eligibility criteria set out in Scottish Squash’s
Selection Policy. All athletes who are 19 years and younger
are required to wear eye protection whenever they participate
in Scottish Squash sanction events and competitions (including
Scottish Squash sanctioned doubles events), Coaching Courses
(must be 16 or older) or any other organised squash related
activity which is endorsed by Scottish Squash. This policy
only applies to activities that take place on a squash court
and involves squash racquets and balls.
STATEMENT TWO
The above will apply to Scottish Squash endorsed doubles events.
STATEMENT THREE
All Scottish Squash accredited coaches who are employed or
contracted to Scottish Squash will actively encourage young
athletes, under their supervision, to wear eye protection.
This policy only applies to activities that take place on
a squash court and involves squash racquets and balls.
SCOTTISH SQUASH JUNIOR SELECTED TEAMS 03-04
Any athlete selected to represent Scotland in a team or squad
(19 years and younger) must wear eye protection which complies
with Scottish Squash’s approved requirements. This will
apply to European/World/Commonwealth and Home International
Championships. Any requirements for other competitions must
be agreed with Scottish Squash.
Eye protection will apply to all activities which take place
on a squash court involving racquets and balls during the
period when junior athletes are officially under the supervision
of a Scottish Squash employee or contracted supervisor.
THE USE OF EYE PROTECTION
1. Only eyewear, which complies with this Eye Protection Policy,
will be deemed suitable by Scottish Squash.
2. Lenseless protective eyewear is not endorsed by the Scottish
Squash Eye Protection Policy.
3. Protective Eyewear must be worn, in a manner, which will
protect the eyes from impact from a racquet or a squash ball.
4. The World Squash Federation (WSF) made protective eyewear
compulsory in all doubles and 19 years and under junior events.
The number of players on a squash court during a doubles match
significantly increases the chance of eye injury.
5. If a player, 19 years or under plays in a Scottish Squash
sanctioned senior squash event this policy will apply.
6. Scottish Squash will review this eye protection policy
on an annual basis.
7. Any junior squash athletes (19 years or under) representing
Scotland or Scottish Squash overseas will be expected to adhere
to this eye protection policy.
