Scottish Squash is committed to promoting ethics in sport.
Scottish Squash recognises that sport can have an impact on
people’s lives at many levels, helping to unite them,
give them a purpose or assist them in leading a healthier
lifestyle. Sport at a local level can help reinforce a community’s
identity and even benefit it financially.
Ethics are the principles of conduct governing an individual
or a group that lays down the accepted standards of behaviour
and or conduct. It is therefore important that sport is played,
officiated and governed fairly, ensuring that all who participate,
whether as athletes, administrators, officials, coaches or
supporters, take personal responsibility for ensuring that
sport is fun and fair for all.
Scottish Squash’s Code of Ethics are encompassed within
such policies as: The Code of Conduct and Fair Play, Good
Practice Guide, Equal Opportunities and Child Protection and
Anti-Doping Policy etc. These policies are not only directed
towards our staff but also to our affiliated clubs, coaches,
players, volunteers and supporters.
It is Scottish Squash’s belief that by promoting fair
play and the respecting of the rights, dignity and worth of
others involved at each level within the sport of squash in
Scotland, that together we will be actively encouraging each
individuals’ well being and their future self development.
The fostering of good standards of ethics will assist in
ensuring that everyone is treated equitably and sensitively,
within the context of their activity and ability, regardless
of gender, ethnic origin, cultural background, sexual orientation,
religion or political affiliation, thereby giving them the
best opportunity to develop and grow in their chosen field.
